Resolve to Love

I resolve to love myself.
Draw some boundaries
to guard health, hope, and peace.
Clear more open space.
Make coveted memories.

I resolve to love others.
Offer the gift of attention
to behold their words and actions.
Bandage worn, distracted souls.
Present calmness and connection.

I resolve to love God.
Place Him above all competing tasks,
divulge my heart as a thankful soul unmasked,
listen carefully, and then
share his joy along a troubled world’s path.

I resolve to love myself, others, and God.
Simplifying life by the means of these filters
draws me ever closer to the heart of my Builder.
Through God’s crafted bounty of grace,
I’ll run courageous and give him all the praise.

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 1 John 4:16 NIV

Sculpture of the word LOVE
The LOVE sculpture at the John and Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Park in Des Moines, Iowa is a favorite of mine. Created by the American Pop artist Robert Indiana, it has become a top photo spot for many couples, friends, and families to celebrate their love.
